‘Mija, Yes you can’ to donate t-shirt profits to COVID-19 Compassionate Care Fund

EL PASO, Texas– The mission behind the ‘Mija, Yes you can’ project is to spread positivity and to give back to those in our community during challenging times. The Mijas are able to give back by donating profits from their “Mija” t-shirts to local non-profit organizations in the community.

‘Mija, Yes you can’ made their first donation to The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank to help feed those who are struggling to put food on their tables due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation was able to provide 280 meals to families in need.

The Mijas are proud to be partnering with our favorite Mija Estela Casas, UMC Executive Director, to contribute to the COVID-19 Compassionate Care Fund created by the University Medical Center of El Paso Foundation and the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Profits made from Mija t-shirt purchases will be donated to the Compassionate Care fund which aims at helping the doctors, nurses and patients affected by COVID-19 in the Borderland.

The Compassionate Care Fund was created to meet the often urgent basic needs of UMC and EPCH patients and their families.

Donations will support the Compassionate Care fund efforts by:

  • Providing basic supplies, like food, clothing, medical supplies and toiletries to patients who need them
  • Helping “financially challenged and vulnerable patients” cover healthcare costs and medication related to Covid-19
  • Assisting hospitals with personal protective equipment, supplies and programs related to Covid-19
