Mija, Yes You Can Celebrated Its Largest Event Yet with 5th Annual Market
Five years of empowering women in El Paso calls for a celebration. Mija, Yes You Can marked the milestone with its largest Mija Market yet, bringing together more than 80 locally owned businesses and food vendors on Saturday, September 27, for a day of
community and empowerment.
At the heart of Mija’s mission, the Mija Market creates a space that uplifts local businesses and creatives while funding and expanding the nonprofit’s programs. These programs
provide resources, mentorship, and opportunities for young women across the Borderland. Every connection made at the market directly supports Mija’s work to empower the next generation of leaders.
“Over the past five years, Mija, Yes You Can has grown from a small idea into a movement,”
said Iris Lopez, Executive Director of Mija, Yes You Can. “I’m proud of the way it continues to
create opportunities for local businesses, and even prouder of the doors it opens for young
women in El Paso. This event is proof of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in its future.”
Back in September, Mija, Yes You Can distributed $12,000 in scholarships to six women in El Paso, bringing the organization’s total scholarship contributions to over $70,000.

Mija, Yes You Can also sends a heartfelt thank you to its sponsors. Their support makes this event and many of the other events the Mijas host throughout the year possible.
